Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend Francis Morales, 24, against the wishes of their families. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s move-in and expresses her feelings in the form of brutal religious postcards. Despite these objections, the young lovers settle into their exciting new life. However, their happiness is cut short after a freak accident leaves Francis physically and emotionally scarred. He soon begins to suffer from nightmares – whispering in his sleep to a figure Olivia cannot see and sleepwalking in strange corners of the house. These episodes terrify Olivia and also suggest that Francis may be hiding something from her. Her investigation leads to a terrifying and perverse discovery; they are haunted by the ghost of Francis’ childhood pastor – an entity who is angry about their move-in and has come to punish them for their sins.
